Food for your skin: Body Yogurt with Prebiotics
Our skin is home to a diverse and abundant microbiota (the community of bacteria, fungi, viruses, etc.), some of which are beneficial and necessary for our skin’s health (such as Staphylococcus epidermidis, which helps protect against external infections and aids healing). However, others can harm the skin barrier (like Staphylococcus aureus, a pathogen that can cause folliculitis, boils, and discomfort).
Therefore, the ideal for healthy and comfortable skin is to maintain a balanced microbiota (between good and bad microorganisms), and this is achieved with… Prebiotics!
Prebiotics act as food for beneficial microorganisms, maintaining a healthy balance in the skin microbiota and promoting their growth. By competing for space and resources, they help displace pathogenic bacteria, reducing their presence.
A balanced skin microbiota helps reduce inflammation and skin irritation. This is especially beneficial for people with sensitive skin or inflammatory conditions like dermatitis or folliculitis.
PLEASE NOTE THAT PREBIOTICS ARE NOT THE SAME AS PROBIOTICS!
In our case, we use prebiotics, which are food (specifically xylitol and lactitol polyols), whereas probiotics are live microorganisms.
